It was year 2007 when I enrolled in Meralco Foundation Institute and took some short courses in Information Technology. At first, I don't have any idea on what specific path to take in the field of Information Technology. I didn't know that Information Technology was such a big world and there are lot of specific career path to choose.
From there, I have learned Program Logic and Windows programming with Visual Basic .Net. Then in 2009 I was included in the Tesda Scholarship by the Informatics Institute and took Web Programming with ASP.Net. But Visual Studio programming did not stuck in my mind and in my heart. One reason is I fell in love with Designing for the Web.

So I started to learn webdesign using Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks. Learning this webdesign thing became my favorite past time. I am currently employed as full time Computer Instructor in Barangay Computer Literacy Program in Pasig City at that time and webdesigning is just purely a hobby.

Now, with the use of Adobe Dreamweaver, I am learning web programming with PHP and MySQL. To document my study, I will post the development here in my blog. I already have some working knowledge about webdesign and setup so I already created the webdesign mockup for my site and already managed to get a free webhost and domain name.

Hope that my web development path became a success story and will make my custom CMS (Content Management System) using Fireworks + Photoshop + Dreamweaver + CSS + PHP + MySQL online and working.
Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-37535357810649019612010-08-24T06:58:00.000-07:002010-08-25T19:23:12.989-07:00PNP for Puro Naman Porma

I was very saddened by the hostage taking that happens last night in Quirino Grandstand in Manila. The news was immediately caught the attention of the international community and was aired in some international news agency.

As the whole world is watching how stupid our national police in the way they deal with the crisis, I remember how most of the policemen are acting in their day to day activity. Most are acting as though they were invincible, strong and tactical. The funny thing is, most arrogant policemen are those newly hired or have the lower ranks.

Whenever they pass by with their firearms, it seems that they are ready for any battle against anyone. But as I saw their performance in the said hostage taking at the Quirino grandstand, they have nothing to be proud of.

They're a bunch of stupid government issues that are only for display. With very poor tactics and strategies, they wasted the life of our beloved tourists.

Those tourist just wishes to see our beautiful county, but what they saw together with their families, friends and countrymen are the stupidity of our policemen.

I feel sorry for our country, I feel so ashamed of our policemen. Here's a very useful link that teaches how to create the best structure for your flash site.

In this article, we'll develop a navigation system. Though it might seem trivial, this will serve as a good example for this article and the techniques can be applied to any project you're working on, be it a full Flash web site, a Flash poll, or a Flash RSS reader. Incidentally, I've created all of these in the last month, and all exhibit the structure that we'll see here.
Here's the link: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash8/best_structure_flash_site.htmRegie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-54805625379323034862010-07-08T01:03:00.000-07:002010-07-08T01:05:19.373-07:00Now that we have a baby, what will happen to our dog Tisay...?This was the first time I left my dog tisay at home and take my younger brother to look for her. It's because I need to go and stay at the hospital to take good care of my wife and our new born baby "yuna".

Our dog "tisay" really missed me, I can see it by the way she approach me. When I approached her, she hugged me immediately, sat on my lap and continues to lick my arms, my face and it took about 10 minutes until she stopped and rest on my lap.

Tisay is sad by the way I look at her eyes. There's also a little bit of sadness within me because I am thinking... what would be Tisay's fate now that we have a baby.I am saying this because we have to move in my in-law's house in Antipolo where my wife's mother is there to look after our baby yuna while we are at work.

I feel sad and sorry for my dog tisay. She is a hyperactive, territorial but not aggressive kind of dog and her behavior and also her fur is not suitable for a our new house that have a couple of new born baby.

Now, to get rid of her hyperactivity, my beloved dog Tisay is always tied outside the house, on her leash with very small space so that she cannot move around freely. Unlike before when we are still at our house in Pasig where she's staying on our roof deck and comfortable, free to run, move around and play with her toys.

I really love my dog tisay, she's my first adopted dog and she made me laugh and feel relax every time I play with her, teach her some tricks and just by looking at her. I couldn't ignore and disregard her. If only I have my own house with a garage and a backyard where she can stay and free to move around... Where no one will get annoyed by her hyperactivity and territorial behavior...Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-36769409854794983012010-07-06T23:01:00.000-07:002010-07-06T23:01:12.905-07:00SWAT 4: PC Game That Runs With On-Board Video Card
My video card Inno3D GeForce 9600 GSO is down so I grab some pc games that would run on my on-board or built-in video card. This pc game swat 4 runs well on my Core 2 Duo with 2Gb or RAM.

This is really a nice and awesome shooting game. You'll feel like you're really a S.W.A.T. or police officer. Although there are lot of things that I am looking for with the game play. How I wish that this swat 4's game play is like the call of duty series.

The story is short and missions are simple. Nice game by the way. :)Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-89939251329320030512010-06-22T20:29:00.000-07:002010-06-22T20:29:23.604-07:00My 30th Birthday: Sweetest Birthday of My Life

Video editing usually requires installing software packages and having a fair amount of technical savvy. But we think video editing should be fun and easy, so we're introducing a new tool that anyone could figure out: it's an online video editor, now available in TestTube, our ideas incubator.

Without installing any software, it allows you to:

- Combine multiple videos you've uploaded to create a new longer video
- Trim the beginning and/or ending of your videos
- Add soundtracks from our AudioSwap library of tens of thousands of songs
- Create new videos without worrying about file formats and publish them to YouTube with one click -- no upload necessary
The message landed on my inbox telling me that the new Blogger Template Designer is out. I asked myself what is this blogger template designer?
We all know that the blogger blog offers some cute blogger template, but those templates were not very attractive for some many bloggers and we all end up with cool blogger templates available on the internet. Thanks to many web designers who continuously create free but elegant blogger templates.
Now, this new blogger template designer is really cool. Very easy to use and you can even have your own customize design without knowing html and css.
But I'm not ready to take advantage of this new blogger template designer for now. Why? Because I want to focus on it by the time I'm doing it. And I can't focus on designing for now because I'm spending my weekend with my family. Yes it's weekend right now, and I want to spend it with my wife, my dog, my family and friends.
Maybe on weekdays while I'm at work and have nothing to do waiting for my students to finish their hands-on activity in ADOBE Photoshop.
But you can now have your very own blogger template design without knowing css. One of them is that "grown up" or "old" dogs cannot be taught or undergo obedience training or learn new tricks. This is very important because a lot of dog owners believe on this idea.
So is this true? Is it really too late for a year old or more dog to learn obedience and tricks? Well based on my experience, this is not true. Last night, I met this 3 year-old pitbull. She was so cute and very clean. I was so happy to see her in the hands of my dear friend emer because it really shows they're having a good owner-dog relationship. And emer really love her pitbull "tyra" so much.
One problem though, is that emer don't know how to train dogs. I asked my friend emer if "tyra" knows how to sit, and I've learned that "tyra" don't know any dog tricks. A lot of my friends immediately replied that tyra is old enough and cannnot learn new tricks.

There's a spark within me telling that I should try to teach tyra how to sit. Or should I? I never handled any old dogs especially this breed. Tyra is a grown-up pitbull and she was intimidating. The way she stare at people, it wasn't comfortable for me since I didn't have any chance of handling pitbulls.
There's always a first-time, that's the saying. So I reached for some treats and started to introduce to it tyra. I was amazed of how she responded. After some treats and praise introductions, I then started to lure tyra for a "sit" command. Everyone was amazed and so happy that this 3 year-old pitbull learned how to sit with his very first basic obedience dog training with me. And I'm so happy. With this, I proved that you can still train grown up or old dogs how to obedience training, and It's never too late for them to undergo training.Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-81211650975565590512010-01-20T19:57:00.000-08:002010-01-20T19:57:42.887-08:00Wedding Site of Enrick and GraceOn December 23, 2009, Enrick and Grace of Pasig City became one in faith and service to the Lord. We decided to celebrate our first Christmas as a new family here in our home. Waiting for our many inaanak to visit, mag-mano and greet us a Merry Christmas with their very sweet smile in their face. Then giving them their gifts feels very sweet this Christmas Day.

While most of my friends are having drinks, I decided not to drink this time. Because I want to spend also this Christmas with my wife and our upcoming baby to Church. We want to give thanks to our Lord for this Christmas and all the blessings that we received throughout the year.

That is how I spent my Christmas with my family. Most families spent their Christmas time this way:
This Christmas, many filipinos living here in Manila, Capital City of Philippines decided to celebrate their Christmas in different Parks and Amusement places.

One of the favorites is the Manila Ocean Park located at the heart of Manila. With just 400 Pesos and 350 Pesos entrance fee for adult and child respectively, each one will enjoy the thrill of being in underwater world.

Those who cannot afford Manila Ocean Park can also spend their Christmas Day at different Parks and Playground just like in Kalaw Avenue. Most families brought their lunch and enjoyed their meal with their family.

Another place to stay this Christmas Day is the Baywalk in Roxas Blvd. With a very nice weather, it feels so great to be at the sea shore and watch the beautiful sunset while enjoying Christmas meal.

A lot of families also loves to feel the serenity of Rizal Park or Luneta. It is one of the historical places in Manila and many families are spending their family time here.

It's Christmas! Whatever way we decided to spend it, the most important is to spend it with our family. It's the precious time with our family and with the Lord.
This is what I think of my profession. I am part of this BCLP family that is serving the residents of Pasig City in the Philippines.

Unlike in most schools and training centers, BCLP Instructors are not just doing their job as teachers. Aside from conducting training to its students, a lot of jobs and task that are not part of their job description as computer instructors are performed by each and every instructors of Barangay Computer Literacy Program.

In most schools and training centers, instructors are teaching courses based on their field of specialty. For example, an instructor that is teaching in the field of graphics and design are just teaching courses like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. And other instructors that specialized in other courses are just teaching applications on their field of specialization. Well, not in the case of BCLP Instructors. BCLP instructors were asked to offer all four BCLP levels if their training centers passed the system requirements for a a certain level.
Ok, conducting those all four BCLP levels are still fine for me as BCLP computer instructor. But the other tasks that are being done and were very annoying were those tasks that I believe should be done by office clerks.

Start of Semester
The semester will start by accepting enrollees. The instructor's job is to advertise and promote the BCLP by doing some announcement and public address. Then the instructos will accept enrollees and their requirements for the entire enrollment period. The next job of the instructor is to advised the incoming students to attend the General <strike>Brainwashing </strike>Orientation. And who's going to get the attendance of the attendees? BCLP computer instructor.
At the start of the training, bclp instructor's next job is to prepare paper works or reports for the beggining of the current sem. Reports like List of Enrollees, Schedule of Classes with Student's Name per Session, and List of Students with Control Number.
While encoding and preparing those reports, the other job of instructors for the beginning of the semester is to prepare the Identification Cards of new students, collecting the student's T-shirt and to submit those shirt for printing. That will be the student's uniform for the computer training.

Assessment Period
At the end of the semester, the bclp students will have their assessment. And instructors were asked to guide accompany their students during the assessment. It is the instructor's job to gather and tabulate the scores of the students. In most cases, bclp instructors are preparing meals and treats for the assessor. Although it is not required, it is advisable to feed the assessor to have a better chance of passing large number of students. Funny isn't it? Yeah, and it became customary in bclp. If the instructor doesn't offer any meal or treats for the assessor, expect that the assessor's feeling and judgment will be erratic and bias against you.

End of the Semester / Start of New Semester
After the assessment, it is now time to prepare for another numerous reports to be passed again, by the instructors. Reports like Assessment Result, List of Graduates, Student's Performance, Top Ten, New Format of List of Graduates and Student's Profile with picture. By the way, this end part of the current semester is overlapping with the beginning of the next semester. So by doing this, bclp instructors were expected that they are doing their job for the start of the semester like promoting the program through announcements and p.a. and accepting new students for the next semester.

Graduation
Until the graduation came, bclp instructors are still working by printing their student's Certificate. After the printing of certificate, the next task of the instructor is to mark each of the certificate with the Dry Seals of the Local Government of Barangay and City Government of Pasig. The instructor should make sure that all the certificates are in ascending order for easy distribution during the graduation ceremony.
Graduation Day in bclp don't happen on a regular basis. A lot of times, the instructors are exerting effort to gather their students by sending them SMS or text and calling them from their home. This is because most graduation days are happening after so many months since the last day of assessment. On the day of the graduation, the instructor's next job is to prepare and decorate the venue. After the ceremony, who will clean the venue? Still the bclp computer instructors. Isn't this a job for engineering or maintenance people? Oh no, in bclp, these are also the job of Computer Instructors.

With this type of system, should we change our job title from BCLP Computer Instructors to BCLP All-Around-Personnel? The funny thing is, most people don't know about this thing happening to bclp. Because they believe that the BCLP office are doing those job and we bclp instructors are just focusing on conducting training.Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-86716046980540604462009-12-09T19:13:00.000-08:002009-12-09T19:13:15.247-08:00Strange Sounds Coming From ComputerComputer won't boot and there are strange sounds coming from it. Some sounds that are coming from your computer means serious problems. If you think or suspects that your hard disk drive's life is nearly coming to an end, the safest thing to do is to turn off your computer immediately.
To find out if the hard disk drive is causing the strange noise, disconnect the drive's power cable before turning the computer back on. After you turned on your computer (this time the power cable of your hard drive is disconnected) and there is no more strange sound coming from your computer, that means there's a problem with your hard drive.
If the hard drive is the noise source, your next step is to download a utility that can read the SMART (Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) diagnostics codes off the hard drive. SMART data can tell you exactly what's wrong. Here's some of the link to drive's SMART utility download page.

Another thing to consider are the fans in your computer. If you are concerned about an unusual fan noise, you can use some utility for monitoring your computer system temperature. You can use the free SpeedFan Tool to see if a cooling fan attached to your motherboard is spinning too slowly.

SpeedFan allows you to have a deeper view of the status of your computer. Almost every computer includes support for hardware monitoring. Accessing digital temperature sensors is really useful. If you are trying to figure out why your pc hangs when under heavy load or after some hours of usage, SpeedFan might help you to find the real cause. Very often it is a poor power supply, or an improperly installed heatsink that lead to behaviours that we tend to associate with errors from the operating system, but that are not. SpeedFan automatically searches your computer for interesting chips: the hardware monitor chips. SpeedFan can expose voltages, fan speeds and temperatures.

Some parts of your computer will fry themselves if not cooled, and a new fan costs far less than a new CPU or Video Card. So please maintain your PC by cleaning it regularly and by keeping it strange noise free.Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-53062868910436058092009-12-08T23:47:00.000-08:002009-12-08T23:47:37.054-08:00Blogger.com Blogspot Custom Favicon.ico Google HostingAs a Blogger.com or Blogspot blogger, we cannot host our own customized favicon.ico icon on our blog. Yes we can host images on on our PicasaWeb account and post it on our Blogger.com blog but we are not allowed to host any other files like documents and ".ico" icon.
But if you really want to change your favicon to stand out from the rest of Blogger.com or Blogspot blogger, there are simple ways to do it. I have a recent post on how I did it but I changed my mind on where should I host my custom favicon.ico.
On my previous post, I decided to upload my custom favicon.ico file on merrypic.com. It's a free image hosting site that also allows you to upload and host a ".ico" file. But recently I noticed that my custom favicon is missing for some time, and it's because of slight problem on my free merrypic hosting. So I decided to host my custom favicon.ico file on my Google account.
Yes, the powerful Mr. Google can host our favicon.ico so we can use it on our sites. If you type the url of your uploaded favicon.ico file, Google will let you download that file into your computer. Although it doesn't allow us to view the favicon.ico on our browser if we type the direct url of our custom favicon, but still, the file is there to serve us. All you have to do is put the url of your uploaded favicon.ico inside your head tag of your Blogger.com blog template and tada! your favicon is there.
So how does Mr. Google host your favicon.ico? Just upload it with your Google Site. Once you have your Google Site up and running, all you have to do is upload the favicon.ico on your Google Site as an attachment and Google will host it. Then you have to point the link on your Blogger.com template's head to your favicon.ico. Simple, Google. :)Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836459985846805502.post-16923394966525312592009-12-07T20:23:00.000-08:002009-12-07T20:31:07.854-08:00Get rid of Access Denied (license_expired) A license has expired on the Proxy "The SGOS license has expired" error message on my computer's browserGot this error message on my laptop. I'm surprised co'z this is the first time I got this error message on my Firefox browser and I can't visit major sites like google, youtube and my blog. So I fired up my other browser Internet Explorer and same error appears. Here's the error message:

Access Denied (license_expired) A license has expired on the Proxy, and your request is not permitted: "The SGOS license has expired" A new license must be obtained. For assistance, contact your network support team.

To test if this error message is appearing only on my machine, I turned on my desktop machines on my network and still I got the same error on both FireFox and IE browsers of each workstations. Not all sites have this error message but this is annoying because all of the major sites that I used have this error message.

How did I get rid of this error message?
Good thing I have this Hot Spot Shield from AnchorFree installed on my laptop. HotSpot Shield ensure you are private, secure and anonymous online. It secure your web session, data, online shopping, and personal information online with HTTPS encryption. It also protect yourself from identity theft online, hide your IP address for your privacy online and access all content privately without censorship and bypass firewalls. It works on wireless and wired connections both on pc and mac.

Although there are advertisements, but that's fine for me since I can now access all sites and get rid of that "Access Denied (license_expired) A license has expired on the Proxy, and your request is not permitted: "The SGOS license has expired" A new license must be obtained. For assistance, contact your network support team." for now.
If still you can't visit major sites because of this same problem after some troubleshooting like rebooting your machine, your router, updating your software and browsers, feel free to try this Hot Spot Shield from AnchorFree and I hope it will work for you like how it works for me.Regie Riverahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01728248391962692906noreply@blogger.com0
